Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 1, 2026 · Version 2.0

This Privacy Policy covers both the WELLVOW website at https://wellvow.com (including our community, forums, and store) and the WELLVOW mobile app used to control your WELLVOW lights. Where a section applies to only one of the two, it is labeled accordingly.

1. Information We Collect

On the website

Comments. When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media. If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Account information. If you register on our website, we store the personal information you provide in your user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except that usernames cannot be changed). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

In the app

The WELLVOW app collects the minimum needed to operate your lights:

  • Device identifiers of your WELLVOW lights (model name, Bluetooth address) — used to pair with and control your devices.
  • App diagnostics (crash logs, anonymized usage counts) — used to fix bugs and improve stability.
  • Email address — only if you contact support.

We do not collect precise location. Photos you use for color extraction are processed entirely on your phone and are never uploaded. No account or registration is required to use the app.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to operate the website and its community features, to discover and control your devices over Bluetooth, to deliver firmware and UI updates, to provide customer support, to detect spam, and to improve the website and app using aggregated, non-identifying analytics.

3. Cookies (Website)

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

4. Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

5. Bluetooth (App)

Bluetooth is used solely to discover and control WELLVOW lights nearby. The app remains fully usable in Demo Mode if Bluetooth permission is denied.

6. Who We Share Your Data With

We do not share your personal information with third parties except as described in this policy. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Comment email hashes may be shared with Gravatar as described above. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

7. We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information

WELLVOW does not sell or share personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). The in-app toggle “Do Not Sell or Share My Info” records your preference.

8. How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile for as long as the account exists.

App diagnostics are retained for up to 12 months.

9. What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

App users may request access, correction, or deletion of their data at any time via the in-app “Delete Account” option or by emailing support@wellvow.com. We respond within 30 days.

⚠ Photosensitive Seizure Warning

A small percentage of people may experience seizures when exposed to flashing lights or patterns, even with no prior history of epilepsy. Effects such as strobe or fast flash may act as triggers. If you or anyone watching experiences dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitching, disorientation, or convulsions, immediately stop using the lighting effect and consult a physician. Parents should supervise children’s use of flashing effects.

10. Children

WELLVOW is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

11. Changes to This Policy

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the effective date above.
